WSSL Partnerships
For Playing Fields
West Side Soccer League works closely with the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation and various non-profit park organizations including Riverside Park Fund, Central Park Conservancy and Randall's Island Sports Foundation. WSSL makes generous donations to these organizations for field maintenance and field development and purchases top quality equipment for use on the fields so that the extended community can play soccer safely.
For Playing More Soccer
West Side Soccer League has partnered with New York Futsal to encourage our families to play soccer -- five a side indoors -- during the winter. It's a ton of fun and great for getting exercise and build foot skill and team togetherness.
West Side Soccer League has partnered with a team of professional coaches from Columbia University, NYU, Hunter and other schools to provide added training for our players during the week. These coaches see our kids each week and sometimes are invited onto the weekend playing field for in situ training that inspires players and coaches alike.
For Training our Volunteers
West Side Soccer League is always looking to provide inspiring coach education clinics for its coach and assistant coach volunteers. WSSL works with top coaches from the New York Red Bulls, Manhattan Soccer Club and NY Futsal to provide ongoing clinics to help coaches with new activities to use in training sessions with our players.
To Recognize our Volunteers
Manhattan Media, the publishers of NY Family, The West Side Spirit and Our Town among others, partnered with West Side Soccer League in 2006 to recognize the tremendous contributions that WSSL volunteers have made each year. The Annual West Side Soccer League Salutes event takes place in November during the last week of the fall season.
For Watching Soccer
West Side Soccer League has a long-standing partnership with the New York Red Bulls. For several years, WSSL has sent its member families to Red Bulls games to enjoy the game of soccer played on a professional level. Kids have enjoyed meeting players on the field, playing in halftime showcases and coaches and referees have benefited from the wisdom of their staff.
West Side Soccer League also encourages its families to attend soccer matches at Columbia University to see the men's and women's teams compete. Go Lions!
For Shoes & Equipment
West Side Soccer League has a partnership with Upper 90 Soccer + Sport. Member families receive a 10% discount on all soccer merchandise. Upper 90 is located at West 94th Street and Amsterdam Avenue.
Also, if you have equipment or uniforms to donate, WSSL donates them to The Favela Project. Used equipment can be dropped off for Favela at Upper 90. How great is that?!
