About WSSL
West Side Soccer League is an all-volunteer soccer league that was started in 1987. It is part of the American Youth Soccer Organization (Region 611) and has adopted AYSO's core guiding principles as its driving philosophy.
WSSL has over 4,000 players, ages 5 to 18 and has teams for boys, girls and children with disabilities. WSSL's 6,000+ parents volunteer as administrators, coaches, referees and team managers.
West Side Soccer League runs two distinct soccer seasons -- one in the Fall and one in the Spring. A winter futsal season is available to all players through WSSL's partnership with New York Futsal.
West Side Soccer League offers various soccer programming designed to meet the needs of the children it serves. They are:
- The Core WSSL Program: weekly games and practices led by parent coaches for Fall and Spring; all players are invited to participate in Winter Futsal Teams
- Free Weekly Soccer Skills Training: weekly skills training led by professional coaches for U6 to U12
- The Tournament Program: open to Core program participants in U8 to U19, availability based on enough participants, one (1) mandatory weekly training session led by professional coaches, up to 2 tournaments per season led by parent coaches (additional fees apply)
- The Travel Program: open to players in U9 to U14, availability based on enough participants, two (2) mandatory weekly training sessions led by professional trainers from the New York Red Bulls, optional tournaments, parent coaches manage games to allow trainers to focus on soccer skills development
For more information about each program, please see Programs and its associated pages.
Donations from participating families allow the League to provide outreach programs, scholarships and major contributions to build and maintain soccer fields in NYC's parks.
